Another 2,958 new cases of COVID-19 – an absolute record – were reported in the last 24 hours in Romania, the balance reaching 142,570, according to data reported on Wednesday by the Strategic Communication Group. Another 82 deaths were recorded on the last day, while 612 patients were admitted to intensive care, record numbers as well.

To date, on October 7, in Romania, 142,570 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed.

Following tests conducted at the national level, compared to the last report, 2,958 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 were registered, cases that had not previously had a positive test. Aside from newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 553 people were positively reconfirmed.

It is the highest daily balance recorded in Romania since the beginning of the pandemic.

To date, 5,203 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died.

Between 06.10.2020 (10:00) – 07.10.2020 (10:00) 82 deaths were reported (52 men and 30 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacău, Bihor, Botoșani, Brăila, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Cluj, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Giurgiu , Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vâlcea, Vaslui, Ilfov and Bucharest. The Strategic Communication Group indicates that, according to the request of the Ministry of Health, the situation of deaths related to August and September was updated by DSP Brăila, with 17 cases identified.

Of these, one death was recorded in the age group 10-19 years, the GCS indicating that it was an 18-year-old patient with comorbidities. 2 deaths were recorded in the category 40-49 years, There were 8 deaths in the 50 to 59 year old category, 18 in the 60 to 69 year old age category, 30 in the 70 to 79 year old age category, and 23 in the over 80 year old category. 79 of the deaths registered are of some patients who presented comorbidities, and so far no comorbidities of 3 deceased patients have been reported.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 8,303. Of these, 612 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 2,568,071 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 27,814 were performed in the last 24 hours, 17,351 based on the case definition and medical protocol and 10,463 upon request.

Likewise, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 35 tests processed before the last 24 hours and sent until October 7 have been reported.

In Romania, 11,965 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 7,889 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 24,600 people are in home quarantine and 9 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 111,564 patients have been declared cured.
