In March, Adrian David was the 102nd patient in Romania. He was infected with the new coronavirus in Deva, where he is a public administrator of the City Council. Then the mayor and a parliamentarian got sick with him. Adrian David is now infected with the new coronavirus for the second time.

The 38-year-old says that in March and now he couldn’t figure out where he got the virus from. The news of the reinfection with the new coronavirus was, however, a shock. On October 4, he felt ill and went to the hospital, where he found out that he was testing positive again.

Adrian David: I have specific symptoms of a virus, nasal congestion, a slight pain in the chest, throat. Fortunately, I have no other more serious symptoms and after tests I did Sunday at the county emergency hospital, it appears that my lungs and other vital functions are not affected.

Adrian says that, beyond the measures taken by the authorities, people are the ones who can isolate the virus.

Adrian David: If everyone wore a mask, if everyone kept that physical distance, I’m sure the number of cases would drop a lot.But this requires a joint effort, a collective effort.

In the seven months since the first infection, the man also managed to donate plasma, so necessary for the treatment of patients with Covid-19. And although he has been reinfected in the meantime, Adrian remains optimistic and happy that his family is doing well.

Adrian David: I am a strong man. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a very good psyche. This aspect is very important when we fight any type of disease.

In its turn, Doctors note that infection with the new coronavirus provides short-term or no immunity.

Florin Nițu, doctor at Târgu Jiu County Hospital: Some studies at this time show that immunity would last between three and six months, other studies suggest that it would be between 6 and 12 months. The truth is that it is not known exactly when the body is immunized after Covid infection.

Adrian David’s case is not the only one in Hunedoara County.

Delia Băda, DSP Hunedoara spokesperson: Unfortunately, there were five people who were re-infected in our county. They don’t show serious shapes, they were just light shapes.

In Romania, the record of infections was registered on October 2, when, in just 24 hours, 2,343 people were declared positive.
