A tall church girl, former director of the “Chesarie Episcopul” Orthodox Theological Seminary, lost her life due to infection with the new coronavirus.
On the night of October 3 of this year, Father Manea Cristișor, 82, passed into the eternal, according to information provided by the Archdiocese of Buzău and Vrancea. He died after contracting an infection with the new coronavirus.
Father Manea Cristișor will be buried on Tuesday, October 6, the religious service will take place, starting at 11:00, in front of the new church of the Broșteni parish. The priest will be buried next to the old parish church, dedicated to the “Asunción”, where he served for almost 40 years.
According to information published by the local press, the priest Manea Cristișor was born on May 28, 1938, in the town of Râmniceni in Vrancea County. He graduated from Theological Seminary in Buzau, he also graduated with a master’s degree in Theology. The priest was a teacher at the Seminary between 1964 and 1968, after which he held the post of teacher. Between 1980 and 1990 he was director of the Buzau Theological Seminary, according to Ziarul de Vrancea.
Father Manea Cristișor worked in education until 2006, when he retired. He remained in the consciousness of the Buzau Seminary graduates as one of the vocational teachers who managed to guide and train many generations of future priests.
The Most Reverend Father Casian, Archbishop of the Lower Danube, who was a student of the priest Manea Cristişor, posted an emotional message on Facebook about the death of his teacher:
“Receive, Lord, from the Cross of the Covid, from the artifices, the soul of the good, energetic, skillful, wise, perfect pedagogue of yesteryear, profound theologian, man of cultural finesse and unsurpassed seminary teacher, encyclopedic, close, severe and meek at the same time, solely and exclusively for our formation as a pure people and servant of the Lord, of the Church and of the nation, Fr. Prof. Drd. Cristișor Manea. Such a servant and hero of education does not die, but rests! His eternal memory! Casian, Archbishop of the Lower Danube, his former and current student ”.
