The PSD National Council could start the fall cleanup, after several party heavyweights fared poorly in local elections.

PSD sources affirm that several leaders of branches that have obtained poor results will be harassed. The most spectacular “mazilire” would be that of Marian Oprișan, the one who lost the elections in Vrancea. Also on the blacklist is PSD Giurgiu leader Niculae Bădălău, who suffered a suspicious defeat and some PSD leaders suspect that he is at the counter with NLP.
Other county PSD leaders would be blacklisted. According to our sources, Ioan Mang from Bihor or Ioan Dârzu from Alba can be found on this list.
In PSD, the situation is more complicated, because the county leaders who performed poorly were only elected to the PSD national leadership at the recent Congress. Precisely for this reason, Ciolacu walks on extremely thin ice, because he runs the risk of a revolt within the party.
