Patricia Ţig, defeated by Fiona Ferro
Patricia Ţig was defeated by France’s Fiona Ferro, 7-6 (7), 4-6, 6-0, on Saturday, in the third round of the Grand Slam tournament, at Roland Garros.
Ţig (26, 59 WTA), who achieved the best performance of her career in a Grand Slam tournament, retired after almost three hours of play (2 h 48 min).
The first set was very balanced, but in the end Ferro (23 years old, 49 WTA) tipped the balance in the tiebreak, at 9-7. In the second act, she was even, but Ţig managed to break with 5-3, she missed two set balls at 5-4, on her serve, but finished the set with a break (6-4).
Ţig converted the deciding set, in which he made many errors, and Ferro accumulated point after point, winning with a 6-0 sec.
The Romanian committed 5 double errors, the proportion of unprovoked errors was balanced, 47 for Ţig, 49 for Ferro, but the French had several direct winners, 37-26.
Ţig will receive a check for 126,000 euros and 130 WTA points for his evolution.
Patricia Ţig is classified in the eighth round of the doubles event, together with Andreea Mitu.
The Roland Garros Simona Halep stayed in the race, in singles, favorite 1, who qualified in the round of 16 after defeating Amanda Anisimova.
