Former President Traian Băsescu has words of thanks for the new mayor of Timișoara, Dominic Fritz, from whom he hopes to “have a German focus” and “end Robu’s whistles and mandolin” by putting things in order. “The people of Timișoara will gain a lot from this mayor,” believes Traian Băsescu.
The former head of state also highlighted Dominic Fritz’s good command of the Romanian language, unlike Clotilde Armand, although both are not native Romanians.
When asked how he explains his choice of foreign mayor, Traian Băsescu said that “Romanians have always appreciated foreigners more than themselves” and recalled that we also had a foreign king. “We have imported mayors, but the mayor of Timișoara seems to me … first look at the difference … although the mayor of Timișoara was not born in Romania, he speaks Romanian perfectly, unlike Clotilde Armand, who was not born in Romania The mayor of Timișoara is fine, in my opinion, the people of Timișoara will gain a lot from this mayor, “Traian Băsescu told Digi24.
When asked what he expects from Dominic Fritz, Traian Băsescu said he hopes “to have a German focus on Timișoara and finish with Robu’s lălăiel and mandolin and for a mayor to come and sort things out very well. Think that after the Revolution, Timisoara, for a long time, about 15 years, was the second largest city in Romania. Now it has been far surpassed by Cluj, by Oradea, in terms of quality of life in the city, and most likely by Arad. Robu was, in my opinion, a very weak mayor, very noisy, but very weak, ”said the former head of state.
