At the “Gheorghe Șincai” College in Bucharest, the classes of a senior class went online, just two days after the start of the school year, after a student tested positive for coronavirus. A few days later, another case appeared in the same class, but the student, according to the school’s management, was left isolated at home.

The teachers say that these two cases are no longer present because the students have been cured and are well, ready to start classes, although in the meantime another third case has appeared and a suspicion in another student.

The mayor’s office, for its part, accuses, in a press release, that the managers did not report a case of contagion by SARS-VOC-2, a situation that would have generated, according to the current regulatory framework, entry into the red operating scenario. . Daniel Băluță, the re-elected mayor in sector 4, claims that he sent the watchdog to Șincai, after receiving several complaints from parents who allegedly complained that there were unreported COVID cases.

Silvia Mușătoiu, a mathematics teacher and member of the board of directors of the “Gheorghe Șincai” National College, told Libertatea her version of the conflict. The teacher says that secondary school teachers do not want to go online, because there are no more cases of contagion among students.

“The Sector 4 City Council intends to take us all to the red stage, and we don’t want that. We have confirmed two cases of COVID-19 in the first week of school, thus expiring the 14-day period. One student’s quarantine period ended today, so they should come to school tomorrow and the other should expire on Monday. Yesterday another case appeared, a 10th grader who did not come to school because he was in the group that was online. The only thing that happened was that that student met with the students in his group, so the decision was made that they stay connected so as not to endanger anyone and that the first group go back to school. The children are fine, ”said Silvia Muțătoiu, who was also the school’s director until last year.

It also shows that yesterday another suspected COVID-19 case appeared in an 11th grade, from a parent who tested positive.

“The S4 City Council has entered into fibrillation that there are already four cases of COVID-19. But there are not four because two have already expired the quarantine period, ”said Silvia Mușătoiu.

A member of the board of directors, who proposes the operating scenario, the teacher says that the situation was discussed on Wednesday, and everyone agreed to stay in the hybrid scenario.

The Sector 4 City Council sent the Control Corps to Șincai on Thursday and its representatives came into conflict with the school management, which considered the control abusive.

City Council threatens criminal complaints

In response, the Sector 4 City Council published a statement indicating that it will urgently file a criminal complaint for frustrating the fight against diseases for school management.

This is not the first conflict between the mayor’s office and the university. Last year, the then school director, Silvia Mușătoiu, refused to sign the management contract with the mayor’s office, a contract proposed by the mayor Daniel Băluţă, but modified compared to the standard envisaged in the ministerial order on competitions for management positions.
