Beatrice Mahler, manager of the Marius Nasta institute, told Digi24 that no one was hurt, but doctors and patients alike are scared. Angry relatives tried to break through the windows to get to the intensive care unit and threatened the doctors..

The patient who died Thursday night was 40 years old and obese. Recalcitrant and violent, the man’s relatives – more than 15 people – could not be detained at the entrance of the hospital guard and in these conditions the support of the police was requested.

Manager: “Staff and patients extremely scared”

“Unfortunately, tonight was an extremely unpleasant situation at the Marius Nasta Institute, caused by the death of a young patient infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a patient with comorbidities. When the family was notified of the event, practically a large group of citizens made their way to the hospital, arrived at the COVID ward, climbed through the windows of the ward and tried to enter through the windows – to break the windows, practically, because the nurses and the doctors managed to close the ward, ”Dr. Beatrice Mahler told Digi24.

“I can only tell you that the staff and first of all the patients were very scared and very scared at the moment, because their safety was in danger. they need this type of event, ”said the hospital manager.

The situation is currently under control and the police and gendarmes arrived at the hospital and intervened extremely quickly. The police will be on duty at both doors of the medical institution tonight.

“They wanted to attack the staff not only verbally”

“These types of situations are not desirable, especially because of the information I have from the guard and my colleagues, the group of people who forcibly entered the Institute sought to attack the medical personnel not only verbally, as they did- oh, but also physically. It is very sad that this is happening and that the effort that we are making and assuring them that it is complete and constant is not appreciated by the members ”, commented Dr. Beatrice Mahler.

The manager specified that it was a group of about 20 men who easily passed the two guards at the door of the Institute and had an aggressive behavior. “No one was injured, but at that time there were ambulances in the COVID ward, which were delivered to other patients. Basically, the safety of Marius Nasta’s patients was in jeopardy, ”Mahler said.

“The recalcitrant people did not get into the COVID ward, but they tried to enter the building through the windows. They tried to reach the COVID intensive care unit, but there is only one ward and their voices, the noise in the courtyard, practically, was heard not only by the patients of the COVID ward, but also by the patients of the pulmonology ward, “he said. . Dr. Beatrice Mahler.

“Certainly tomorrow I will file a complaint with the Police, because it is abnormal to endanger the safety of medical personnel and patients in Marius Nasta”, concluded the manager.
