Ioana Maria Petrescu, Vice President of PRO Romania and former Finance Minister, announced on her Facebook page that she is leaving Victor Ponta’s party and told her colleagues that she hopes to convince party leaders to “reject duplicity, opportunism, treason and negotiation behind the scenes ”.
Petrescu, who was Minister of Finance in the Ponta Cabinet, was in the middle of attention and in connection with the MTO, during the 2014 consultations, regarding the reduction of CAS. Then, together with Victor Ponta, he went to the Cotroceni Palace, to talk with President Băsescu.
Faced with President Băsescu’s statement that Romania also has to cover the MTO (medium-term objective), Ponta seemed confused, after which he replied that “we will work on everything”.
The finance minister affirmed that he did not address the MTO discussion as there are questions that he could not answer “in five minutes, on foot” in Cotroceni.
