“Ms Firea’s decision was wrong and it affected us all”

Călin Popescu Tăriceanu accuses Gabriela Firea of being guilty of the “disaster” registered by PSD, ALDE and ProRomania in the local elections in Bucharest. Tariceanu assures that Firea is the one who refused to allow PSD to make alliances with its satellites in the elections of the Capital.

“Gabriela Firea is wrong when she seeks to blame for the defeat in the Capital elsewhere than in her own decisions! The alliance that could bring him a new term as mayor general was rejected by her. Now we cannot accept the falsification of the truth just so that Ms. Firea can find excuses for the disaster she caused in the capital. ALDE, Pro Romania and PSD were in very advanced discussions for an alliance in local elections, which would have become an alliance also for parliamentary elections. In fact, ALDE has made these types of alliances with PSD in several counties, alliances that in most cases have been successful. When the alliance was achieved by Bucharest, Ms Firea opposed the alliance, and the president of the PSD, Mr Ciolacu, declared that he did not want to impose an alliance on her so as not to be held liable in case of failure. We did not reach this impasse because in ALDE we would have conditioned this alliance, positions on the list or other functions, but because Ms. Firea’s lack of experience pushed her towards this solution. As we saw in the campaign, she ran so alone that she also strongly avoided her own match.
Ms Firea’s decision was wrong and it affected all of us in the ruling alliance. This decision is now missing in her second term and for her and other colleagues in the sectors. If we had an alliance, as we proposed, Vlad Voiculescu would probably no longer threaten the mayor with imprisonment. If we had an alliance, as we proposed, Dan Tudorache were mayor of Sector 1. If we had an alliance, as we proposed, Bucharest would not end up in the hands of demagogues!
But this is what happens when you despise selfless help just because it seems too small to you, “wrote Călin Popescu Tăriceanu on his Facebook page.
