The 2020 local elections also brought a unique situation in the Capital. Daniel Pancu, Poli Iaşi’s coach, ran for PSD lists at the Bucharest General Council and managed to win a term.
Contacted by Telekom Sport, Daniel Pancu was amused when asked about his success in the elections. At the same time, the former great striker stressed that football continues to be his priority and hinted that he will resign from the position of the General Council of the Capital:

Daniel Pancu was eighth on the PSD candidate list in the elections to the General Council of the Capital. Before him, only Gabriela Firea, Petre Roman, Elisabeta Lipa, Cornel Dinu, Dumitru Dragomir, Anghel Iordănescu and Monica Davidescu were on the lists of the Social Democratic Party. According to the data so far, PSD would have obtained more than 33% of the mandates in the general council of the Capital, which represents a number of at least 18 mandates.
