The exit polls carried out by the electoral institutes CURS and AVANGARDE gave Emil Boc the winner in the Cluj-Napoca City Council.

He would have convinced more than 50% of Cluj residents to vote for him for another term as mayor. Emanuel Ungureanu, a candidate supported by USR PLUS, came in second, according to the poll.

Emil Boc (PNL): 51.52%

Emanuel Ungureanu (USR-PLUS): 38.64%.

In this year’s elections, 18,270,004 Romanians with the right to vote and with domicile or residence in the country will be able to participate in the vote in the 18,755 polling stations throughout the country.

According to official data, approximately 3,200 mayors, 41 presidents of Provincial Councils and approximately 40,000 local and county councilors are voted in the 2020 local elections.

The biggest bet in local elections is the Bucharest City Hall, where 18 candidates entered the race. The capital produces a quarter of Romania’s GDP, and the future mayor will administer a budget of approximately seven billion lei.

Results of the 2020 local elections. Special rules in polling stations

– Voter access to the voting table will be staggered to avoid crowds inside. Voters must wear a protective mask to cover their nose and mouth, and disinfect their hands when entering and leaving the voting station;

– The distance of at least 1 meter can be ensured by marking it between the people waiting in the courtyard or in front of the voting station. It is recommended that voters wear a protective mask in the yard or in front of the voting table, to cover their nose and mouth;

– At the entrance of the polling station, a filter will be organized, provided by the technical staff of the polling stations of the designated polling stations, equipped with a thermometer, sanitary protection material and a disinfectant bottle;

– in case of congestion at the entrance to the polling stations, the security personnel will guarantee a distance of at least 1 meter between people; in this situation, it is mandatory to wear a protective mask to cover the nose and mouth;

– Voters will be subjected to observation triage and will be thermometers using a non-contact thermometer;

– if temperatures above 37.3ºC and / or obvious respiratory symptoms are not detected (for example, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath), the voter will disinfect his hands, enter the voting table, keeping a distance of at least 1 meter to other people and avoiding touching surfaces as much as possible;

– The technical staff of the electoral offices of the designated polling stations will ensure that voters respect the physical distance, wear the mask correctly and do not deviate from the indicated route to the polling station. If a voter does not have a protective mask, they will be provided with a protective mask, which they will wear during their presence inside the voting table and at the voting table;

– After voting, voters will not stop inside the polling station or polling station and will leave the polling station immediately following the indicated routes.
