The Minister of the Interior, Marcel Vela, wrote on Facebook, after the Central Electoral Office (BEC) rejected the MIA’s request to extend the vote after 9:00 p.m., that “the representatives of the BEC parties (PSD & Co ) did not agree. ” .

“A few minutes ago I received the response to the request that I sent to the Central Electoral Office, regarding the possibility of accepting to vote for all compatriots who will be in front of the voting tables at 9:00 p.m.

Unfortunately, the representatives of the BEC parties (PSD & Co) did not agree.

The Central Electoral Office was the only one that was able to decide in this case, but unfortunately the approach of the MIA was not understood.

We are also trying to buy more time for Romanians who are in the vicinity of the polling stations to vote at 8:59 p.m., waiting for good minutes to exercise a constitutional right.

This extension was necessary and as today’s election was different, it took place in very difficult conditions for both organizers and voters, keeping their distance and applying specific health measures to protect health.

The fear of voting is the fear of democracy! ”, Shows Marcel Vela’s message.

On Sunday, the Ministry of the Interior requested, by means of a note addressed to the BEC, the extension of the vote after 9:00 p.m. due to the difficulty of the electoral process in some polling stations. For the electoral process to be prolonged, the request must be approved by the Central Electoral Office.
