On Sunday, the Ministry of the Interior requested, by means of a note addressed to the BEC, the extension of the vote after 9:00 p.m. due to the difficulty of the electoral process in some polling stations. For the electoral process to be prolonged, the request must be approved by the Central Electoral Office.

“Taking into account the difficulty of voting to comply with the health protection measures, we ask you to analyze and order the possibility of extending the vote after 9:00 p.m. where there are people waiting in the vicinity of the voting station“Asks the Ministry of the Interior, in a note signed by Secretary of State Gheorghe Sorescu.

According to the speech sent to the BEC, the request arises after information about “some specific situations existing at the polling station level generated by the necessary measures in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic appeared in the media.”
