A 12-year-old girl from the Czech Republic told cybersecurity company Avast that she discovered that an app in official stores was misleading her customers. Avast analyzed the girl’s research and found virus apps on the App Store and Google Play.
The girl contacted the company Avast, which specializes in cybersecurity. It was no coincidence that she knew what to do in such a situation. She participated in an Avast project, carried out in schools in the Czech Republic, where she learned what online security is.
Avast took the girl’s message seriously and discovered seven problematic apps that were downloaded by 2.4 million people, Mediafax writes.
What were the hackers doing? They charged users between $ 2 and $ 10 for services that did not cost as much. The hackers raised $ 500,000 before the 12-year-old thwarted the scheme.
Following the Avast report, the apps were removed from Google Play and the App Store.
