If she wins the trophy at the French Open, Simona Halep will reach 8,825 points in the world ranking, while the current leader, Australian Ashleigh Barty, who will not play at Roland Garros, will remain with 8,717.
Simona Halep held the WTA leader’s “chair” for 64 weeks, the last time in early 2019, after the Australian Open.
The Romanian athlete, the main favorite at Roland Garros, will start the path to the third Grand Slam trophy of her career in front of Sara Sorribes Tormo, 70th WTA position.
