The Strategic Communication Group announced new high numbers for the COVID epidemic on Friday.
In the last 24 hours, 1,629 new cases of people infected by coronavirus were confirmed, after performing 25,494 tests, 15,879 based on the definition of the case and medical protocol and 9,615 on request.
Aside from the recently confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 600 people were positively reconfirmed.

Today’s figure brings the total number of officially confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Romania since the start of the pandemic to 119,683.
96,158 patients were declared cured.

42 deaths from COVID
In the last 24 hours, 42 deaths were registered (25 men and 17 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Brașov, Buzău, Caraș- Severin, Covasna, Giurgiu, Ialomița, Iași, Mehedinți, Prahova, Timiș, Vaslui, Ilfov and Bucharest.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,245.
Of these, 508 are hospitalized in ATI. The figure is slightly higher than yesterday, when 506 people were hospitalized in ATI.
In Romania, 9,352 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated at home and 7,004 people are institutionally isolated.
