According to the investigation carried out by IRSOP, the PSD candidate, Gabriela Firea, would obtain, in the local elections on Sunday, a score of 42% of the votes cast by the residents of Bucharest, while her main opponent, Nicu Nicor Dan , supported by the PNL and the USR Alliance – ALSO, Nicușor Dan would receive only 35% of the votes.
The information appears in a communication sent to the press by representatives of the IRSOP.
According to the investigation, Traian Băsescu, with 15%, and Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, with 3%, would be located in the following places, in the survey carried out for the General City Council. According to IRSOP, the rest of the candidates together would add up to 5% of the votes of Bucharest voters.
On the other hand, the research also shows how many percentages the political parties will receive in the fight for the General Council of the Bucharest City Council. In first place is PSD, with 26%, followed by USR and PNL with 25% and 21%, respectively. The General Council would also include PMP, which would get 8%, and PRO Romania, the party led by Victor Ponta, with 6%.
Candidates proposed by ALDE will get only 4%, and the other candidates, in total, will get another 10%.
According to the press release sent by IRSOP, for this survey, the institute’s operators interviewed a number of 1,010 people by telephone between September 21 and 23, 2020.
“The sample is representative of the resident population over 18 years of age in Bucharest. The sampling tolerance is +/- 3%. The percentages are calculated for those surveyed who said they would go to the polls. Their presence could exceed 45%” , is shown in the IRSOP statement.
On Sunday, September 27, the municipal elections were scheduled, in which the mayors of all the localities of the country, the presidents of the deputations and the councilors will be elected.
For the General City Council of Bucharest, 18 candidates, representatives of various parties, face each other. Among them, the best placed are Gabriela Firea (PSD), the incumbent mayor, Nicuşor Dan (independent, supported by PNL, USR and PLUS), Traian Băsescu (PMP), Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu (ALDE) and Ioan Sîrbu (Alianţa Pro Bucharest 2020), the candidate supported by Victor Ponta.
