The National Council for the Study of Security Archives conveys, in a press release, that eight of the candidates for the local elections have judicial decisions of security collaborators. Of these, five have final court decisions.
The list published by CNSAS with those who have the verdict of collaborating with the Securitate is opened by former president Traian Băsescu, who is running for PMP at the City Council of the capital. The CNSAS verdict was confirmed on the merits by the Bucharest Court of Appeal, which is currently being resolved in the Superior Court of Cassation and Justice.
„Although the candidate lists were received from the County Elections Offices only from 31 counties, 22 municipalities with county residences and from Bucharest, sectors 1, 4 and 5, our institution processed data on the candidates for the positions by priority. the president of the County Council, the councilor of the county and municipal, as well as by the candidates to the office of mayor of the cities of residence of the county. From the data of the 6,678 candidates sent to our institution until September 24, 2020, it turns out that 3,491 people are not verifiable, being born after 1973 ”, concludes CNSAS.

- Basescu Traian – candidate for the post of mayor of Bucharest. Judgment won by CNSAS on the merits. Pending resolution in the Superior Court of Cassation and Justice.
- Boros Ludovic – candidate for the post of councilor of the county of Sălaj. Process finally won by CNSAS.
- Brie Adrian Florin – candidate for the post of county councilor in Sălaj. Lawsuit pending at the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
- Igreţ Ioan – candidate for the post of Arad County Councilor. Process finally won by CNSAS.
- Marginean Ioan – candidate for the post of Mureş County Councilor. Judgment won by CNSAS on the merits. Pending resolution in the Superior Court of Cassation and Justice.
- Pleşu Constantin Corneliu – candidate for the post of President of the Vaslui County Council. Process finally won by CNSAS. Published in the Official Gazette no. 8/2007.
- Stoian marcel – candidate for the office of Harghita County Councilor. Process finally won by CNSAS. Published in the Official Gazette no. 708 / 24.05.2017.
- Tudor Dumitru – candidate for the position of councilor in the city council of Apostolache, county of Prahova. Process finally won by CNSAS.
