In accordance with this order, a COVID-19 medical leave can also be granted if the patient needs a few more days of isolation at home after discharge from the hospital.

If the treating physician has not taken sick leave, for the period in which the insured is isolated at his home or in the place declared by him, the certificate of medical leave for the same condition is granted by the family doctor who monitors the health of the insured. the person through remote medical consultations.

“As of July 21, 2020, after the entry into force of Law No. 136/2020, the insured for whom the isolation measure was instituted in a health unit benefits from the medical license issued by the treating physician upon discharge from the hospital. The treating physician may issue a medical license for discharge until the maximum period of the isolation period, which elapses from the time of hospitalization or for the time established by himself, ”is specified in a statement to the National House of Health Insurance.

In this case, a medical letter from the hospital doctor is needed.

As with the granting of medical leave for other illnesses and during the period of hospitalization in case of illness with the new coronavirus, the medical leave is issued by the hospital doctor.

Prior to the adoption of this Order, the legislation on sick leave due to COVID did not regulate the situation of positive patients confirmed with the infection and isolated at home before hospitalization and who should have been granted sick leave for that period.
