This is the highest number of infections within 24 hours in Romania, from the start of the pandemic.

Between 22.09.2020 (10:00) – 23.09.2020 (10:00) there were 47 deaths (35 men and 12 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brașov, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Neamț, Sibiu, Suceava, Tulcea, Vâlcea and Bucharest.

Of these, Two deaths were recorded in the age category 20-29 years., 3 deaths in the age group 40 to 49 years, 5 deaths in the category 50 to 59 years, 10 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 16 deaths in the age category 70 to 79 years and 11 deaths in the age group over 80 years.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,061. Of these, 498 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 2,278,125 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 24,544 were performed in the last 24 hours, 15,165 based on the definition of the case and medical protocol, and 9,379 upon request.

Likewise, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 201 tests processed before the last 24 hours and delivered until September 23 were reported.

In Romania, 8,917 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 6,959 people are in institutional isolation. Additionally, 23,442 people are in home quarantine and 179 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 1,011 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 543 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform the public.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55 of 05.15.2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 511 penalties for minor offenses, worth 114,024 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday a crime was found to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 6,612 Romanian citizens were infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,917 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 2,935 in Germany, 159 in Great Britain, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 112 in Austria, 20 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 19 in Greece , 5 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of the Congo, Hungary and Qatar.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic until now, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece, have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 338 were declared cured: 308 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
