At least 19 Chinese fighter jets and bombers entered Taiwan’s airspace on Saturday for the second day in a row. According to China’s Global Times, this was not a warning but “a rehearsal for the occupation of Taiwan,” Agepres reports.

The Taipei Defense Ministry said that at least 19 Chinese fighter jets and bombers, including an anti-submarine plane, had crossed the Taiwan Strait.

A similar incident took place on Friday. Officials from Japan and the United States are visiting Taipei these days, including US Under Secretary of State Keith Krach, the highest-ranking official in Washington to come to Taiwan in decades.

Tsai, Krach and former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori on Saturday paid tribute to former Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui, who died on July 30, for his role in democratizing Taiwan during his 12-year tenure.
