Belarusian police forces detained hundreds of people during anti-government protests in central Minsk on Saturday, Reuters reported.
The police also detained 73-year-old Nina Bahinskaya, a symbol of the protests in Belarus. She was dragged into a police van, after a peaceful protest.
Some 2,000 people gathered in the center of the Belarusian capital on Saturday to demand the resignation of President Alexander Lukashenko.
Law enforcement immediately intervened and arrested hundreds of protesters.
Massive protests are taking place in Belarus over the re-election of President Alexander Lukashenko. The opposition accuses the presidential elections of August 9 of fraud.
