We are facing a harsh reality, which we feared, and we are talking about the first child diagnosed with Covid-19, who arrives in intensive care.

At this moment, the doctors at the “Victor Gomoiu” hospital in the capital are waging an incredible fight to save the little boy who has not reached the age of 10. Although he had no other condition, he developed an inflammatory syndrome, which affects all of his organs. His condition is extremely serious.

The 9-year-11-month-old boy is from Buzau and was transferred to the Victor Gomoiu hospital in the capital.

The child is cared for by a multidisciplinary medical team consisting of a neurologist, a pediatrician, and an intensive care physician. They are assisted by an infectious disease doctor from the Matei Balş Institute. He developed a bacterial infection, as a result of which he developed a multiple inflammatory syndrome. Doctors are doing everything they can to save him.

Specifically, the infection that has spread in the child’s body affects all of his organs.

The syndrome identified in children signifies a combination of symptoms between Kawasaki disease and septic shock.

Kawasaki disease is extremely rare and has traditionally been manifested by a seemingly inexplicable high fever and a modified general condition. Skin rashes, redness of the palms, soles, and feet, as well as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fatigue can occur.

This type of situation was reported earlier this year in other European countries, but also in the United States. Doctors abroad have established an association with COVID-19 infection, but so far it has not been proven.

Livia Vladoiu, head of the ATI department: “This syndrome can occur from 3 weeks to 6 months after Covid … this is the interval after Covid infection.”

This is the worst case of a child diagnosed with SARS-VOC-2 in Romania. Since the beginning of the pandemic across the country, more than 6,700 minors have been tested positive. And the authorities expect the number of diseases to increase.

Nelu Tătaru, Minister of Health: “Decreasing the age also means socializing. Socializing means, at the moment, less respect for the rules and precautions that we recommend and then we will see, in the next period, the decrease in age in infected people. “We hope to maintain that plateau, somewhere around 1500-1600, and do the assessment not just daily, weekly and bi-weekly. We will see the effect of the school in late September, early October. “

Meanwhile, the number of beds for children diagnosed with COVID infection has increased in 19 pediatric hospitals.

There are currently 711, and 77 in intensive care units.

In the same interval, 27 adults died. Now, 460 patients are being cared for in intensive care units.

Nationwide, the number of illnesses is close to 109,000, after 1,679 new cases were reported in just 24 hours. Among the patients are 5 soccer players from the FCSB club. In total, 9 cases were identified among the players and another 9 in the coaching staff.
