Transport Minister Lucian Bode announced that waiting times at stations on the Drumul Taberei metro line are currently 6 minutes, according to Agerpres.

“We have 6 trains there. We have assigned 10 trains of the 82 that we have at Metrorex, practically once the 6 trains enter the M5 bus, 60 trains will circulate every day (60 races, no). Waiting times at the moment are around 6 minutes, but also in this project, in a purchase that we are currently making, we want to buy 13 new trains, especially for this project, unfortunately we are in the Court of Appeal with an appeal and we are awaiting the outcome of the appeal and we will have 13 new trains purchased strictly for this project, “Lucian Bode told public television.

The Minister of Transportation stated that at maximum operating capacity, the Drumul Taberei highway metro system can carry 50,000 passengers per hour.

“The metro line will change a lot the way the inhabitants of this area will move, because we have an addressability of approximately 300,000 inhabitants in the Drumul Taberei area. The capacity designed to transport passengers in the 7 kilometers of this bus is 50,000 passengers per hour per direction, God willing, we have enough passengers, because before the pandemic we had 600-700,000 passengers in the metro per day in Bucharest, now we have around 300,000, they have been greatly reduced, we see what is happening in the pandemic, “said Lucian Bode.

Line 5 of the subway, Râul Doamnei – Eroilor Section, was put into operation on Tuesday for the traveling public, since they have the possibility to circulate for free that day until 23:00.

The Râul Doamnei – Eroilor section, including the Valea Ialomiţei station and depot, was financed with non-reimbursable external funds within the SOP-T 2007-2013, the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 (85%) and charged to the state budget (15%).

The works of this investment project started in November 2011 and the value of the project was approximately 3,200 million lei. The eligible value of the project is approximately 2.3 billion lei, of which the European Commission contribution through the Cohesion Fund (amounting to 85% of the eligible value of the project) is approximately 2 billion lei, according to Metrorex .

The route of the metro line 5 – Râul Doamnei – Eroilor section offers a high capacity transport route and a means of connection between the southwest area of Bucharest (Drumul Taberei district) and the city center, in a length of about 7 km (10 metro stations).
