The right-wing candidate for the Capital Mayor’s Office announced this Tuesday, at a press conference, that he will sue Gabriela Firea for defamation, after the Mayor of the Capital declared that Nicușor Dan would have taken money to help citizens. “I know you cannot conceive of someone who spends 15 years defending citizens and cannot understand why it is not in their value system, but when you make false statements, you have to pay,” Dan said.
“I will file a civil lawsuit for defamation, for defamatory statements to the incumbent mayor of PSD, Gabriela Firea, who said from me that I took money to help citizens. It is a false statement for which you will have to answer ”, she declared.
Nicușor Dan gave a press conference in which he explained the recording in which he allegedly intervened to block an illegal demolition at the Orășelul Copiilor park in sector 4.

“A citizen of Scetor 4 was abused by the city hall, which illegally demolished his property. This fact was established by a final decision of the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
What the abuse consisted of: A property built on the basis of an authorization granted by the City Council was demolished without any documents, without any project.
The citizen called me, a member of Parliament from Bucharest, and asked me to help him.
First we went together to the Ombudsman. Then I went to the City Council in sector 4, including 2 written materials, in which I called his attention that they are going to commit abuse. They did not reply.
He would then intervene in the litigation, together with the Save Bucharest Association. The court ruled in our favor and found that the City Council had abusively demolished it.
It is my duty as a Member of Parliament to solve the problems of the citizens of the constituency. What sense would the hearings have in the parliamentary cabinet?
I denounce myself, I didn’t just make this gesture. I have solved the problems of many citizens who have approached me over time. I intervened when the mayor’s office rejected RADET, when they wanted to specify the Cismigiu park. I went to court dozens of other times with the association.
They accuse me of defending a thief. Never in the thousands of people who came to us, did we investigate who are the people who ask us for help. We just looked at whether people were right or wrong.
It is said that the building was illegal anyway. As I said, the building had a permit issued by the City Council in 2013 and in any legal system a permit gives rise to a property right. Only the communist system did not respect the right to property. The mayor’s office in sector 4 behaved like the communist state, ”declared Nicușor Dan.
A recording with Nicusor Dan appeared in public space on Monday. The recording contains a dialogue between Nicușor Dan and a representative of the Sector 4 City Council, in which the right-wing mayoral candidate allegedly tried to prevent an illegal demolition.
The recording was published by Dana Budeanu, a close friend of Gabriela Firea.
