A reorganization project at the level of the Capital Police envisages the merger of the Homicide service, coordinated until recently by Radu Gavriș, simultaneously with the abolition of the Automobile Theft Service and the Press Service. The new structure that will be created through the merger of these services could be led by Chief Commissioner Marius Andrei, who could be appointed deputy director general, respectively, the position that Gavriș held before being assigned to the Harghita County Police, through de -a decision signed by Liviu Vasilescu, who resigned at the beginning of September after the scandal generated by his meeting with members of the Duduianu clan.

Chief Commissioner Marius Andrei is the one who, in an interview with mainnews.ro in mid-August, stated that the chiefs of the Capital Police had requested that the agents of the Violent Crimes Group Service, which he directs, stop to work. with DIICOT prosecutors in investigations targeting underworld clans.

“We were firmly, progressively, gradually asked not to carry out activities under the coordination of DIICOT prosecutors. By the Director General at that time, Chief Commissioner Miron and by the Deputy Director General, Commissioner Radu Gavriș,” he said then Marius Andrei.

Likewise, the Press Service would be transformed into a Press Office, sources from the Interior Ministry specified.

The Homicide Service was established on August 1, 2000, and according to media reports, it would be one of the best in Romania. Thus, as ziare.com wrote in 2018, “Bucharest is the only European city where all the criminals they have killed since 2011 have been caught.”

Currently, the Homicide Service has 3 offices: the Homicide Office, the Suspicious Death and Wrongful Death Office, and the Sexual Assault Office.

Following the reorganization, the Homicide Service will no longer have offices and office manager functions.

Through the reorganization project, the Office of Suspects and Guilty Homicides will be abolished, and the files of presumed deaths and culpable homicides will return to the District Police or police stations.

The Bureau of Sexual Assault could become a service at the same time that the current boss changes, according to the sources cited.

The decision to separate Radu Gavriș from Harghita came after information appeared in the press according to which Liviu Vasilescu met in the evening, in a church, with leaders of the Duduianu clan to request the funeral of Emi Pian as soon as possible . , died in a scandal between two clans of the underworld.

The Romanian Police leadership subsequently confirmed the veracity of the information and Liviu Vasilescu announced her resignation from the institution’s management. Not before signing Radu Gavriș’s detachment to Harghita.
