Police on the Greek island of Lesbos fired tear gas at migrants who attacked them with stones on Saturday, during a demonstration in which they sought refuge after fires destroyed the Moria refugee camp, reports AFP.
Hundreds of asylum seekers have expressed anger after spending the past four nights on the streets, as efforts to relocate have yet to materialize.
The island’s authorities, who refuse to rebuild the refugee camp, want to transfer the migrants to hundreds of tents that they have urgently set up on Friday in an area near the port.
