President Klaus Iohannis considers parents’ concern and concern about starting school in pandemic conditions legitimate, but says the decision to start the school year is “correct and necessary.” The president appeals to parents: he encourages them to send their children to school, advises them to explain that school will be different for a while and that it is necessary to follow the rules.
The head of state made these statements at a press conference held on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Palace.
“I am writing to parents who are naturally worried and concerned: I encourage them to send their children to school and explain that for a while the school will be different, but if we all follow the rules, we will overcome well. this situation ”, declared the president.
Klaus Iohannis noted that at the moment there are only a few localities where education will resume exclusively online, while in others it will take place in a hybrid system, depending on the epidemiological situation and existing conditions.
“We cannot reduce the risk of infection to zero, but it is very important to be aware that by following the basic rules, everyone contributes to the safety of the entire community. Limiting access to education has important consequences for the younger generations and affects the future of all of us, “warned the president.” The decision to open schools, although not easy, is correct and necessary, “said the head of state at the opening of the press conference.
Children will quickly get used to wearing a mask.
President Klaus Iohannis is convinced that students will get used to wearing a mask very quickly at school, and said that they will get used to even the least pleasant things very quickly.
When asked if he thinks students will be able to handle the mask they have to wear at school, Klaus Iohannis said: “I am convinced that they will get used to it very quickly. Children get used to it quickly, even with the less pleasant things ”.
There are no opening ceremonies for the school year.
He highlighted the role of local authorities in providing educational institutions with everything necessary for the development of the new school year and thanked teachers and school leaders, who “often have to find solutions for safe courses.” .
