The former director of Transelectrica Marius Carasol, accused of falsifying his engineering degree to occupy the position of manager of the company, was definitively sentenced by the Bucharest Court of Appeal to 2 years and 8 months in prison with suspension for fraud and use of forgery . , transmits Agerpres.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal rejected the appeals declared by the prosecutors and Transelectrica, maintaining the sentence issued in February 2020 by the 1st District Court.
According to the decision of the first instance, Marius Caraşol must attend a social reintegration program run by the Probation Service and perform unpaid work for the benefit of the community within the Municipality of Clinceni Commune or at the Clinceni Police Station, for a period of 120 days.
The judges rejected the civil action filed by Transelectrica SA, as devoid of purpose, after Caraşol paid the 460,000 lei damages.
Marius Caraşol was sued in December 2019 for use of forgery and deception, in relation to the engineering diploma submitted to the job application at General Electro Proexim and Transelectrica.
Prosecutors claim that Marius Caraşol used false documents, namely study documents showing that he attended courses at the Bucharest Polytechnic University, as a graduate engineer, for employment in various economic entities.
Marius Caraşol stated in his CV that he has a diploma as a graduate engineer, after graduating in 2005 from the Bucharest Polytechnic University. However, the diploma turned out to be a fake.
According to Edupedu.ro, Caraşol would have attended courses at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, repeated two years of university, but did not graduate.
Marius Caraşol was dismissed in September 2019 from the positions of president of Transelectrica and from the position of member of the company’s board of directors.
