A teacher in Argentina, suspected of being infected with coronavirus, died Wednesday after she could not breathe and collapsed while taking an online course.
Paola De Simone, 46, was a professor at a private university in Buenos Aires. During the online course, conducted with the help of the Zoom platform, she told students that she is not feeling well and that she is having difficulty breathing, Mirror reports.
Some of her students allegedly asked her for her address so they could call an ambulance, but the teacher only managed to say “I can’t” before she collapsed.
The teacher was concerned about her health and said she has had symptoms of coronavirus infection for more than a month, according to La Noticia.
“My classmates and I were the last ones he spoke to. He started by saying that he had pneumonia, I saw that he was worse than in the previous hours. At one point, he could not continue to slide forward or speak and he became unbalanced,” he said one of the teacher’s students.

Images of the moment when the teacher collapsed during the online course appeared on social networks. She continued to teach the students, although she suffered from a persistent cough, an academic coordinator at the university said in a statement.
De Simone was married to a doctor and they had a daughter. According to local media, the doctor found his wife dead when he got home.
