Satellite images North Korea would prepare to launch a rocket from a submarine (Think tank)

Satellite images taken over the Sinpo shipyard in North Korea appear to capture preparations for the launch of a ballistic missile from a Pukguksong-3 submarine, writes the Beyond Parallel platform.

The first indications of an imminent launch are ships brought to the perimeter where the Pukguksong-3 submarine is located. One of the boats has the same appearance and dimensions as that used in similar tests that took place in the past. The ships are used to tow the submarine offshore, where the launch will take place.

However, the satellite images contain no indication of the presence of a new type of North Korean submarine. The authors of the article note, however, that part of the site is completely covered by a retractable platform, just to hide what is there from possible observations from the air.

The images also show the silhouette of a small submarine, 18 meters, already existing in the North Korean fleet.

Two other ROMEO-class submarines are anchored in the bay of the nearby Mayang-do base, which, the article notes, is unusual: on the one hand, they can participate in exercises that are held annually, but on the other hand, they cannot. make. The possibility that they are observation points for the supposed missile launch can be ruled out.

The Beyond Parallel platform is owned by the think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies, a non-profit organization that studies politics and changes taking place globally. The group of experts ranks first in the United States, according to a ranking by the University of Pennsylvania.
