After the end of the holidays, the daily percentage of positive tests will increase, because tests will decrease based on demand.

With the end of the Christmas season, an increase in the percentage of positive tests is expected, because as the tests carried out on demand disappear, practically only the tests for those that fall within the case definition will remain, draws the teacher’s attention Alexandru Rafila.

“Attention, if we talk about an increase in cases in the next period, this increase will be doubled by the increase in the number of (positive) tests, but not because someone increases or decreases the number of tests artificially, but because there are more people that falls within the definitions provided by the National Institute of Public Health, ”said Professor Rafila of Digi24.

At the moment, a good part of the tests that are done in Romania are done on request, because there are many people who need these tests to go on vacation abroad. It does not mean that after this request ceases to exist, Romania’s testing capacity will decrease, Professor Rafila said. But private testing labs will not be used, he added.

For example, according to the data presented by the authorities on Saturday, September 5, a series of 22,380 tests had been carried out in the last 24 hours. Of these, 13,081 were based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 9,299 on request.

To date, 1,923,620 tests have been processed nationwide.
