The Health Minister says that the authorities have an assessment of up to 1,500 cases of COVID-19, given the reopening of indoor restaurants, cinemas, theaters and schools, this being true if the rules are followed.
He said that if preventive measures are not followed, the authorities can intervene with restrictions in certain areas.
Nelu Tătaru was asked on Monday whether, after the reopening of restaurants, theaters, cinemas and after the start of classes, the authorities will be able to cope with a large number of illnesses.
“As long as we comply with the rules imposed by joint ministerial order with the line ministers for each activity that is resumed, then we will be able to manage an increase in the number of cases, a small increase that we assume. To the extent that these rules are not followed, we will have an increase in the number of cases. (…) We have an assessment that reaches up to 1,500 cases as long as the rules are followed. In the conditions in which the regulations are not complied with, we will have an increase and then we will have to intervene with restrictions in certain areas ”, explained the Minister of Health, according to news.ro.
When asked if the prognosis of 2,800 cases is still in effect, Nelu Tătaru said: “The prognosis was given two and a half months ago. I would go with a prognosis in which everyone respects the rules and everyone does their part, then we will have a small and acceptable increase in the number of cases, given that we can also manage intensive care ”.
Nelu Tătaru was informed that some mayors claim that they do not know under what conditions the new school year will begin.
“For a month we have been talking about the local adaptation of the scenarios that we have made transparent and are known to all, I do not know why these mayors do not know these scenarios, and the freedom of the regional emergency commission through local authorities, DSP and school inspections, adapted to each school. Each school has been evaluated for two weeks. These are the three scenarios in which online education can be done where we have an index of more than 3 ”, said Tătaru.
He was also asked what advice he has for grandparents who take their children to school, given that this age group is more vulnerable to Covid-19 and he replied: “We have 5,805 infected children, of which 1,978 were under 9 years of age. . , and 3,127 were in 9 and 19 years. Children are the ones who can transmit, the elderly and those who have certain comorbidities can contract serious forms of the disease. The indication was to make sure these grandparents were not with the children. “
