At Monday’s meeting, the government modified the decision on the alert status, to allow the opening of restaurants, theaters and indoor cinemas from Tuesday, September 1. After the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette, each ministry involved must issue, also on Monday, orders on the specific measures to be imposed for each situation: rules for restaurants, rules for theaters, etc. The government also imposes a county-level cap on coronavirus cases, which, once exceeded, can lead to restaurant closures.

TO UPDATE The Romanian Government adopted at the meeting on Monday the Government Decision that establishes the conditions under which restaurants, cafes, cinemas and theaters will be opened, starting on September 1. Clubs and bars are closed.

“Today we have to adopt the government’s decision to amend the government’s decision on the state of alert, in order to open the restaurants as of September 1. Immediately after the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette, each ministry involved must issue, also today, the order with the measures to be observed ”, declared this Monday morning Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, at the beginning of the government meeting.

He specified that the ministries will issue orders with the specific rules that will be imposed for the operation of restaurants, theaters and cinemas.

The prime minister also added that there will be a limit of 1.5 cases of coronavirus per 1,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, which if exceeded at the county level will close restaurants, theaters and cinemas. However, it is left to the regional emergency commissions to allow the operation of restaurants in a town where the incidence of coronavirus cases is below the limit of 1.5 / 1,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, although at the regional level it is exceed this threshold. or, conversely, shutting down activities in a location where the threshold is exceeded, even if the county as a whole is below the threshold.

“We have included a threshold regarding the level of spread of the virus at the county level, of 1.5 per 1,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days. We go out to the level of each county committee for emergency situations to have the possibility of restricting activity in an area, even if the index is not exceeded at the county level ”, exemplified the prime minister.

He also said that these rules must be communicated, and the representatives of these industries must respect them, so as not to endanger the health of customers and spectators.

“We will have to communicate these rules. We will have to have very clear conversations with representatives of the hospitality industry, to respect the tables, so that there are no consequences for their customers,” said Ludovic Orban.
