Prime Minister Ludovic Orban announces that the Government will adopt, on September 15, the Government Decision on the extension of the alert state, a normative act that will also regulate the protection measures against COVID-19 that must be observed on September 27, local election day.
Prime Minister Ludovic Orban explained, on Sunday, in a B1 TV program, that Romania is currently under the influence of the Government Decision that regulated the extension of the alert window from August 16 for one month, already from September 15 the state will be extended. Alert, the Government Decision in this regard will be the basis of the joint order of several ministers that will regulate the conduct of local elections.

Orban said the organization of polling stations “in more spacious precincts” is being considered, giving as an example the organization of polling stations not in schools, but in gymnasiums. The prime minister affirms that waiting areas will be established abroad, maintaining physical distance, but attempts will be made to speed up the electoral process.
“I think that if all the candidates follow these rules, I think it will have a quite beneficial effect. (…) If they are responsible, if they follow the rules, in turn they will be an example for their followers and I think the degree of compliance with people with the protection rules can also increase if they see that all their candidates comply with these rules (…) From my point of view, if these rules are followed, the risk of transmitting the virus during the campaign and during the process electoral is very small, ”said the prime minister.

Regarding the identification of the voters, the head of the Executive says that it has not been decided whether it will be done with or without a mask on the face.
“It is the main problem in terms of … We are still thinking about how to solve this problem (voter identification – no),” Orban added.

In this context, the prime minister drew attention to the fact that he found that there was “a bulletin championship” in some areas for local elections.
