The next time Mars Helicopter flies, it will be on Mars. The Perseverance team connected the rover helicopter on April 6, after confirming that it can send and receive data, but also receives electrical charges from Perseverance.
Mars Helicopter will depend on the space agency’s Perseverance rover to supply power initially before generating its own electricity using a solar panel.
The US space agency helicopter will remain connected to the vehicle for about two and a half months after contact with the ground on Mars.
Once the space agency’s Perseverance rover on planet Mars moves about 100 meters from its initial location, Mars Helicopter can begin its 30-day flight test campaign.
