700 kilometers of highway and 300 km of highway completed by 2024

The year 2024 could find Romania with 700 new kilometers of motorway and another 300 express roads, announces Transport Minister Lucian Bode. According to him, there are important projects underway in terms of road infrastructure development.

Taking into account the sections that are being worked on and those for which the order to start the works will soon be given, the 1,000 new kilometers could be ready by 2024, the head of Transport also said at the RoInvest online conference.

The minister was asked how many kilometers of road will be completed in the next four years. “We have important projects underway and we believe that 700 kilometers of road and 300 km of highway can be completed”, Lucian Bode said, according to Agerpres.

Regarding the roads, lot 1 and lot 5 of the Sibiu-Piteşti highway, Lugoj-Deva highway, the complete Transilvania highway will be ready, except for the section that includes the Meseş tunnel, the A7 Ploieşti-Siret highway, except the Paşcani- lots Suceava and Suceava-Siret. To these is added the A0, the north and south belt of the Capital.

“There are 700 kilometers of road, some sections are under construction, others will begin to operate in the next period, but it is certain that they can be completed, according to the contracts, by 2024”, stressed the government official.

As for the express roads, they are Craiova-Piteşti, Brăila-Galaţi, Focşani-Brăila and Buzău-Brăila.

“There are about 300 kilometers of highway that can be completed in the next four years”Bode completed.
