Cornel Lozneanu, Executive Vice President of the Romania-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke with DC News about the implications that the bill on the implementation of 5G technology could have, which was debated on August 24 in a public meeting organized by the Ministry of Transportation, if implemented as proposed.
“The conclusions were extremely sad. We face great risks because, right now, we are risking by forcing 5G to become a certain competitor, because this market is not even very large, a delay for at least 3-5 years to its implementation, since we are debating whether we want telemedicine, we want online education, or 3-5 years means a lot.
And the costs are extremely high. Only mobile operators will have losses estimated at 5 billion, money that they will want to recover from somewhere. In the end, I think this will go to the end consumer. From the evaluations existing so far, a possible scenario was with the increase in prices, in subscriptions, six times. From 3 euros to 18 euros. That is a great deal. Because the absurdity of this project is the claim that all 2G, 3G and 4G equipment must be removed. Which has no justification. Because you can do it on a 5G network separately, ”said Cornel Lozneanu.
