1,713 new cases of COVID in the last 24 hours, an unprecedented number since the start of the pandemic in Romania. 49 people died | News, News Romania | Freedom

The Strategic Communication Group (GCS) confirmed this Wednesday 1,713 new cases of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours in Romania, after performing 26,520 tests.

It is the worst balance that has been registered in our country since the beginning of the pandemic until now. The previous negative record had been set on August 27, when 1,504 new cases were confirmed.

Apart from the recently confirmed cases, after retesting the patients who were already positive, 714 people were positively reconfirmed.

Today’s figure brings the total number of confirmed cases in Romania since the start of the pandemic to 107,011.

Data on the number of people declared cured is currently unavailable due to technical updates in the reporting system and the data centralization application, according to GCS.

49 deaths from COVID

The death toll from COVID is also high.

In the last 24 hours there were 49 deaths (33 men and 16 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Brăila, Buzău, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Neamț, Prahova, Sălaj, Suceava, Tulcea, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest.

Of these, 3 deaths were recorded in the age group 40 to 49 years, 4 deaths were recorded in the age category 50 to 59 years, 16 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 15 deaths in the age category 70 -79 years and 11 deaths in the category over 80 years.

All 49 deaths were due to comorbidities.

To date, 4,285 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

471 patients in Intensive Care

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 6,854.

Of them, 471 are hospitalized in ATI, a figure that increases compared to yesterday, when 460 people were hospitalized in ATI.

In Romania, 11,164 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home and 5,782 people are in institutional isolation.

Additionally, 37,206 people are in home quarantine and 8 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
