1,298 new cases and 40 deaths in 24 hours. 519 patients are admitted to ATI

The authorities have announced alarming new data on the evolution of the coronavirus in Romania. On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, 1,298 new cases and 40 deaths were reported in the previous 24 hours. 419 patients are hospitalized in the Intensive Care Units.

Since the beginning of the pandemic until now, 89,891 cases of people infected by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Romanian territory.

38,701 patients were declared cured and 11,392 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection.

After the tests carried out at the national level, compared to the last report, there were 1,298 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), these being cases that have not previously had a positive test.

To date, 3,721 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 01.09.2020 (10:00) – 02.09.2020 (10:00) there were 40 deaths (27 men and 13 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Bacau, Bihor, Brasov, Buzau, Caras – Severin, Constanta, Dambovita, Dolj, Giurgiu, Gorj, Iasi, Maramures, Mehedinti, Mures, Prahova, Salaj, Suceava, Timis, Valcea, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest.

Of these, one death was recorded in the age group 40 to 49 years, six deaths were recorded in the age category 50 to 59 years, 9 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 15 deaths in the age category 70 to 79 years and 9 deaths in the category over 80 years.

All 40 deaths were in patients with comorbidities.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,147. Of these, 519 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 1,852,088 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 26,543 were performed in the last 24 hours, 16,521 based on the definition of the case and medical protocol and 10,022 upon request.


Likewise, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 273 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until September 2 have been reported.

In Romanian territory, 9,836 people confirmed with the infection by the new coronavirus are isolated in their homes and 5,848 people are in institutionalized isolation. Additionally, 33,553 people are quarantined at home and 45 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 990 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 605 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55 of 05.15.2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 759 misconduct sanctions, worth 191,450 lei.
Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday 4 crimes were found to frustrate the fight against diseases, the deed provided for and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.
We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where infractions to health protection regulations can be notified.

The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified aspects.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 6,590 Romanian citizens were infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,898 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 2,935 in Germany, 158 in Great Britain, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the US, 111 in Austria, 20 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 19 in Greece , 5 in Cyprus, 2 in India and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden, Republic of the Congo, Hungary and Qatar. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic until now, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece, have died.
