Taylor was shot eight times after officers used a battering ram to break down her door while serving a search warrant and returned fire to the apartment after midnight on March 13.

An officer was shot by Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, who said he thought an intruder was breaking into the home.

The target of the order was an alleged drug dealer named Jamarcus Glover, who was arrested on traffic charges the same night 10 miles away in a separate order. Taylor had a previous relationship with Glover.

Sergeant Johnathan Mattingly, who was shot in the leg by Walker, spoke to internal Louisville police investigators about two weeks after the raid, and said police expected Taylor to be alone in the home because Glover was known to be it was elsewhere.

Mattingly said before the raid that officers were told that Taylor’s ground floor apartment was a “soft target” and Taylor “should be there alone because they knew where his target was and I guess they thought he was their only boyfriend or only known. ”

Mattingly told investigators in the interview that they recorded that officers briefed on the raid were told that Glover had sent packages to his department on his behalf.

Taylor “possibly gave him drugs, received the packages and withheld his money,” Mattingly said he was told about Taylor’s involvement. No drugs were found in Taylor’s house.
