When it comes to video games in 2020, the PS5 and Xbox Series X dominate online conversation. But I’m either not pre-ordering, or I’m not thinking of buying them this holiday season.
“Yes!” We all have our reasons for saying. Or “no” when it comes to buying a new console, but I don’t think I’m a very sharp case here. I’m planning to wait because it looks like I haven’t been given a reason to buy yet.
To put it bluntly, I don’t see anyone down who is willing to order PS5 or Xbox Series X. The supply chain and the shortage are reason enough, and I know there are some very important ones. It sports in a minute on the platform.
But for now, here are three reasons I’m leaving the PS5 and Xbox Series X for now, which goes beyond the simple argument that “that’s a lot of money I can spend on a lot of other things.”
I still have lots of PS4 games to play
Let’s start with the PS5, the console I can buy in the first place (I run the PS4 household, and I haven’t even bought my own Xbox One X). The PS5 feature I’m wildly excited about is its wild design. This thing looks like a Wi-Fi router and a tower fan had a secret love bike that grew around the EV and VALL-E. As part of the statement art, it is as strong as the divider.
But consider That is Talking about PS5 which I’m very excited about, you already know where I’m going: games. Or, rather, lack it.
Here is a list of games that are expected to hit the PS5 at launch or by the end of 2020:
- Assassin Creed Valhalla – Holidays 2020
- Astro’s Playroom – PS5 launch
- Bugsnacks – Holiday 2020
- Shivri 2 – 2020
- Dirt 5 – 2020
- Fortnight – PS5 launch
- Godfall – December 2020
- Gods and Demons – Holidays 2020
- Jet: Far away shores – Holidays 2020
- Madden NFL 21 – 2020
- NBA 2K21 – 2020
- Supervisor: System Redux – Holiday 2020
- Oddworld Solstrom – 2020
- Outriders – Holidays 2020
- Planet Coaster: Console Edition – 2020
- Quantum Error – 2020
- Do it again! Advanced Edition – 2020
- Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Holiday 2020
- Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodline 2 – 2020
- Watch Dogs: Legion – Holiday 2020
- Worms Rumble – 2020
- WRC9 – 2020
Two of the ones that interest me are horror-based first-person-shooter Quantum Error and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The former feels like I can “reach” somewhere along the way (I’m just starting Horizon Zero Dawn), and while the next trailer excites me as a hack … I know myself well enough to wait. .
Why should I wait? Because I still haven’t beaten the original PS4 Spider-Man game. And I know I should, but earlier this year, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Persona 5 Royale, each took 100 minutes to play. As much as I want to explore the virtual version of NYC I can’t really explore during this epidemic, Spider-Man has faded into the background.
Looking at that launch list, I can see the games that I know some of my friends will rush to buy. Assassin’s Creed: Behind Valhalla is a strong and dedicated fan base. Dirt 5 is already impressing one of my colleagues. Heck, even those cute and creepy bugsnakes, I can make some people’s fans into a discord spending time.
But those three games are not for me. And even if they were, those three are also coming to the PS4.
I’ve only recently launched Ghosts of Susuma (which is Rad), and I’ve found both the Yakuza 0 and the Yakuza Remister Collection on sale at a cheaper price, so I know I can call them ‘OL.’ A college ledge should also be tried. Sitting on top of those titles is Resident Evil 7, which tests my love of horror as I play it a little sliver at a time.
Oh, and you know, I’ll give another 100+ hours of the new Game Plus for Persona 5 Royal someday (yes, I’m trying to play Persona 4 Golden on Steam, but wow it’s big considering the point of the game) to be incomprehensible, at least Less for me).
The new Xbox isn’t for me (even at 299)
Sure, the Xbox Series S is tempting at its price of 29 9,299, but even if I were to grab it, I think it’s just as appealing as the Xbox Series XI in the past year.
Primarily, I use my XB Series X Series X for a rare game that appears on a game pass that is interesting enough to resume my subscription. Most recently, it was Tell Me Wii, a one-point and-click mystery game about the truth about her mother’s death, two siblings. It’s emotional and sometimes a narrative story, and I’m glad I can play it.
But like the PS5, I don’t see a reason to invest in a new Xbox anytime soon. Yet, there is one game that really excites me: Tetris Effect: Connected. I love the Tetris effect, but I mostly like playing it when it comes to my friends.
Tetris Effect: Adds a connected multi-line multiplayer, a fix that is required for quarantine in this modern age. But as great as it is, it will require my friends with whom I play Tetris Effect who should have an Xbox or PC. Also, like many upcoming- and third-party Xbox games, I’ll be able to play Connected on the Xbox One I already have.
My Nintendo Switch is right here
I’m one of the types that switches to their Nintendo very important game console for those who have new ways to keep looking. Most importantly, Ring Fit Adventure changed my life practically this past summer, getting me to work that helped with my sleep and back pain issues. I play RFA for about half an hour every morning, and when it feels like a sport less and workout more, it has become an important part of my life where I can’t stop.
The Switch just got a spirited, really funny and unique indie title (it’s also on the Xbox Game Pass, which I wish I had known before hitting the bye). Spiritfire is about death and the high sea, and it sounds like an amazing title that I can draw to finish it.
The switch keeps getting Quality Ports too, which makes me realize that I can buy and keep it on the PS5 right away for $ 20 to $ 40 instead of over 5 5,500.
And my love of everything from Animal Crossing: Nintendo Switch, New Horizons and the AP Out to Untitled Goose Game, and Celeste, has shown me something about myself. Gameplay is much more important to me than load times or graphical fidelity.
Why wait for the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Sure, summer or winter may change my heart about this incoming pair of 2021 next-gen consoles. Maybe someone will be allowed to have guests upstairs and I have to show my ways wrong.
But when I have more games than I can already play at the same time (oh, I almost forgot, I’m enjoying Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, no matter how bad I’m at it), I just don’t watch Big reason. Especially when some of the next-gen games coming out this year that keep my interest in mind seem like it’s worth buying a full console, not enough.
