The Phillies have announced their opening roster. It includes 16 pitchers, two receivers, five infielders and six outfielders. The Phils can still add one more player to reach a maximum of 30 men. Public service Phil Gosselin is likely to be added to the list before Friday night’s first game of the season once some contractual details are settled.
In this shortened 60-game season, teams can carry 30 players during the first two weeks. The list sizes are reduced to 28 after two weeks and to the usual 26 two weeks after that.
Aaron Nola will kick off the opening Friday night at Citizens Bank Park against Miami’s Sandy Alcantara.

Pitchers (16): Right-handers Jake Arrieta, Zach Eflin, Deolis Guerra, Tommy Hunter, Trevor Kelley, Reggie McClain, Héctor Neris, Aaron Nola, Nick Pivetta, Ramón Rosso, Vince Velasquez and Zack Wheeler and left-handers José Álvarez, Austin Davis, Cole Irvin and Adam Morgan
Collectors (2): Andrew Knapp and JT Realmuto
Infielders (5): Didi Gregorius, Rhys Hoskins, Scott Kingery, Jean Segura and Neil Walker
Gardeners (6): Jay Bruce, Kyle Garlick, Bryce Harper, Adam Haseley, Andrew McCutchen and Roman Quinn
Before the list ended, the Phillies reinstated left-hander Austin Davis, right-hander Tommy Hunter, infielder Scott Kingery and right-hander Hector Neris from the disabled list. In addition, right-handers Trevor Kelley and Ramón Rosso and infielder Neil Walker had their contracts selected and right-hander Robert Stock was designated for assignment. Right-handers Seranthony Domínguez and David Roberston and left-hander Ranger Suárez will open the season on the disabled list.
