Paper Mario: The Origami King has a groundbreaking mistake near the end

Paper Mario: The Origami King It may be a role-playing game for kids, but that hasn’t saved him from a game-breaking mistake at the end of the game.

In The king of origamiPaper Mario and his new origami friend Olivia have to save Princess Peach and her castle from the game’s titular villain. This involves hunting down the five streamers that surround the castle, keeping it in place on a distant mountain.

Destroying each streamer takes several hours, with each new color taking you to a different corner of the Mushroom Kingdom and requiring Paper Mario to learn new powers. But this game-breaking bug can destroy a player’s save in the fifth and final streamer, approximately 20-30 hours in the game.

YouTube channel Nintendo Unity detailed the bug in a video this week, and several desperate gamers have said in a thread on Nintendo’s support forums that they have been affected by the problem.

[[[[Warning: This post and the video above include minor spoilers for location and company for Paper Mario: The Origami King.]

On your trip to the last streamer in Paper Mario: The Origami King, you must collect the “Spring of Rainbows – VIP” card in the Shangri-Spa area of the game. To do this, Paper Mario, Olivia, and their companions need to collect stamps from four other springs in the area.

Once players have the VIP pass, Paper Mario can gain access to the secret fifth spring. Upon entering the cave for Rainbow Spring, a Toad takes the VIP card. If the player continues to progress normally, the game will work as intended. However, if the player turns around and leaves the cave and area, there is no way for him to return.

Once the Toad picks up the VIP card, the spa concierge (who hands out the card to begin with) will treat Paper Mario as if he still needs to collect the four stamps from the other springs. But the other springs act as if Paper Mario has already been there, and they won’t let it hit again.

Paper Mario: The Origami King It normally works in a manual save system, which requires the player to jump to a save block to save the game. However, leaving Spring of Rainbows automatically saves the game; This happens when charging inside or outside some areas.

As of this writing, there is no way to solve this problem. Players who want to continue their Paper Mario adventure should either wait for Nintendo to fix the problem or remove their save and start again from the beginning.

We reach out to Nintendo for feedback, and we will update this story with any information we receive.
