England escaped the horror of the loss of John Stones.

ENGLAND 2-1 POLAND:

The England team came close to spoiling victory in Wednesday’s World Cup qualifying match against Poland, before Harry Maguire scored the winning goal five minutes before the end.

England won the match at Wembley 2-1 and now top Group I after winning three of the three matches so far in the standings.

– It is an important victory, we play for a place in the World Cup, Maguire tells ITV after the match.

The winner of the match defends his colleague Stones, who was to blame for Poland drawing 1-1 in the second half.

– We don’t like to make mistakes. Sometimes we are to blame for goals, we are not perfect, but John made up for it tonight and will come back even stronger, says the United player.

Stones-tabbe

However, it seemed like a long time to score at Wembley on Wednesday night.

Harry Kane sent the home team to the lead before the break after scoring on penalties.

But the Poles fought back when Manchester City stopper John Stones blew it in England’s defense. He took advantage of Arkadiusz Milik who passed the ball to Jakub Moder, who equalized for the guests.

The Stones have been out of the England heat for a long time, but this week they have gained renewed confidence from team manager Gareth Southgate.

It could be that Southgate regretted it for a few minutes on Wednesday night.

Fought back

Stone, however, was going to strike back.

On a corner kick five minutes before the end, the City stopper went up the highest in the field. The Stones headed back toward their fellow plug Maguire, who unmarked his foot charged off the shot. The ball went straight into the goal behind a Wojciech Szczesny with no chances in the Polish goal.

Television footage showed a relieved Stones receiving congratulations from his teammates after his goal pass.

The Poles never managed to fight back and therefore England can be very happy with a solid reunion of the national team.

Premier League games now await the majority of players this coming weekend.
