Storms lead to several closed mountain passes

Vegtrafikksentralen vest informs at two o’clock on Sunday evening that column driving was introduced for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes on national road 7 Hardangervidda until further notice due to bad weather. The transition is closed to passenger cars.

Fylkesvei 55 over Sognefjellet is closed on the Rustasætre boom – Sognefjellshytta section. There will be no new evaluation of the opening before Tuesday.

The county road 51 Valdresflye is also closed. Here, Vegtrafikksentralen øst claims that it will not reopen on Sunday.

On County Road 50 Hol – Aurland, column driving can be introduced on short notice. There are reports of locally reduced visibility, strong gales, cloud cover, and light snow.

Haukelifjell currently open

Vegtrafikksentralen sør reports that the E134 over Haukelifjell is currently open, but due to the storm reported on the first day of Easter, there may be convoy driving and a closed mountain pass.

At 5.45 it was bare and minus 2 degrees in Haukelifjell, light breeze and partly cloudy. Strong winds and snow are expected throughout the day.

Therefore, Vegtrafikksentralen recommends motorists to check the weather and traffic reports at 175.no before hitting the road.

On the E16 over Filefjell, there was a layer of snow on Sunday morning and visibility was reduced in some places due to snowdrifts. There are reports of light gales and snow showers.

At County Highway 27 Venabygdsfjellet, changing bare deck and thin ice, locally reduced visibility, and difficult driving conditions due to snowstorms were reported Sunday morning.

Fylkesvei 53 Tyin – Årdal may close on short notice. On Sunday morning, visibility was reduced in some places due to a snowstorm and a heavy gale was blowing.

Saltfjellet closed

Vegtrafikksentralen nord reports that the E6 over Saltfjellet is closed due to bad weather and lots of snow. The crossing closed Saturday night, but opened for a few hours Sunday night, before closing again shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday.

The E6 over Kvænangsfjellet was closed after the last column left the south at 12.20am on Sunday night.

Both in Møre og Romsdal and in Helgeland. A great avalanche danger was announced on Sunday, and since Monday also in Trollheimen, Romsdal, Sunnmøre and Indre Fjordane.
