ASKERHALLEN (VG) teammate Eskil Wold (18) and veteran Anders Bastiansen (39) were clearly affected after one of the Frisk Askers U21 players was seriously injured in an ice hockey match on Saturday.
– It’s incredibly sad, even though we don’t know the extent. I hope it goes well. This is something you don’t want to happen, it was a big accident, says Bastiansen.
On Saturday, one of Frisk Asker’s junior players was seriously injured in a match at Askerhallen. He was taken to Ullevål Hospital for surgery. The match was canceled after the incident.
It was clear that the accident was a topic of conversation in Frisk’s closet the next day.
– It is difficult to visit him now, but no one should worry that we will be there for him when that time comes, no matter how he goes with him, says Bastiansen.
I never experienced anything like this
Frisk beat Grüner comfortably 5-1, winning five of six matches and only losing to league leader Vålerenga at the start of this year’s season, but the crash put a clear brake on the mood.
– If you are not affected by such a situation, then something is wrong. But it’s too early to say anything one way or another, so far I hope he does well, says the 39-year-old.
Management had told the players not to comment on the details of the case and only to share their experiences surrounding the message they received on Saturday.
– I have played hockey for so many years and have never experienced anything like it. When he hears about such a case, he gets angry on his behalf and on that of the family. Of the whole team I can say that it affects us, but now we did a job here and I am proud that the boys have achieved it, says the 39-year-old.

Dedicate the goal
Also for classmate and teammate Eskil Wold, it was a day marked by contrasts. The coach’s son scored his first goal for Frisk and was heavily involved in the victory.
– Of course it’s sad, both for him and for the family. It was fun earning him three points today, and the score I got goes to him. He was very unlucky, says Wold.
The club’s managing director, Nicolay Sørensen, says they will not comment on the extent of the damage beyond what has already been said.
– He’s one of my friends, I’ve played with him since I started at U10. He goes to my class, I have a good relationship with him. Now we just have to give him the support he needs, we have informed him a bit and we are going to support the family, says Eskil Wold.
