On May 9, NRK had a case about how easy it is to buy data on individuals. I have downloaded an alternative operating system on my phone to better handle this data. Still, I wish more people would do more to protect their privacy.
Uncle Screws
I try to become aware of privacy by not using Google. Google collects data that can be used to create personalized advertising. Therefore, in many ways, Google is almost a symbol of supreme capitalism. Money above all!
But then, how do you think Google that offers everything “free” has become the Uncle Screw of the world?
– Yes; D is Aftenposten’s discussion site for youth ages 13-21.
– We publish around 20 publications per week, both on paper and online.
– The objective is to raise young voices in public debate.

– Not sure how to write discussion posts? Here are some tips along the way.
Personally, I started looking for better privacy on my mobile a few months ago. And yes, it is a little lonely at the “top”. After downloading the privacy operating system, I don’t have access to Snapchat, Vipps, or Google Pay.
Trapped in a cage
I wish my friends would download and use a more privacy-conscious chat service, but I have a bad conscience to force this on them. Sometimes it seems like zero privacy is the price you have to pay for not becoming a hermit.
In my eyes, we live in a happy ignorance that what makes everyday life really keep us trapped. In a freedom cage, little control over their own information and a pressure to buy.
But we are the consumers who decide. So if enough people take active action against this invasion of privacy, we can have a society that is more guided by our own ideas about freedom and rights. Not by rich companies that don’t want the best of us.
