– When you take your foot off the gas, you get what you deserve. When you meet a Sam Allardyce team, you know they will stay in the game and seize the opportunity they get, Liverpool defender Andy Robertson told Sky Sports after the game.

– They got what they deserved and we got what we deserved, says the Scotsman.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was very satisfied with the first half but says they started giving the ball away too easily early in the second half.

– We gave them easy chances and corner kicks. That was the one thing we didn’t have to do tonight, but we did, Klopp tells Sky Sports.

– West Brom deserved the point. We cannot move on. In the end, we could have done better, and we should have done better, says Klopp, who also had to see that Joël Matip had to leave with an injury after an hour of play.

– It was brilliant today. You have to defend yourself a lot when you come across a quality team with such fantastic stats at home. “We frustrated Liverpool as much as we could,” Allardyce told the BBC, calling it a valuable point.

Sadio Mané’s goal at eleven minutes seemed to be the decisive one, in a game where Liverpool more or less controlled in the 90 minutes.

In the first half there were more or less games against a goal, but in the second half West Bromwich was getting better and better in the game and took advantage of a couple of opportunities.

Karlan Grant came close to leveling the score in the 72nd minute when he set it up with a deep pass from the left, but his shot hit the post.

Ten minutes later, he was unable to do anything with Semi Ajayi’s header, after Liverpool had given away a corner kick. The header slammed into the bar and bounced twice along the line before crossing the finish line behind a confused Alisson.

Roberto Firmino was very close to deciding the game in Liverpool’s favor five minutes before the end, but a phantom save by Sam Johnstone ensured it 1-1 at Liverpool.

– It was a brilliant rescue. To be honest, he didn’t have much to do, Johnstone tells Sky Sports after the game.

It is the first time Liverpool have conceded points at home in the Premier League this season, after seven victories from seven games leading up to tonight’s game.

It is usually uniform when Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool face both teams led by Sam Allardyce and West Bromwich. The victories have greatly benefited Liverpool, but it was a Crystal Palace team led by Allardyce that last defeated Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League. It dates back to spring 2017 and since then the Beatles’ City Reds have now totaled 67 games without losing at home in the Premier League.

Sunday’s game was Allardyce’s second since he replaced Slaven Bilic in early December, and the seasoned Brit knew in advance that any point would be bonus points in the game to remain in the Premier League.

Liverpool clearly had the best on the ball and the most chances, but West Brom held up well on defense and struck when they got the chance towards the end. Thus, Sam Allardyce returned to get points from Anfield. Allardyce’s last four matches at Anfield in the Premier League have ended with a win and three draws with four different teams.
